Sanpete County Sub 4 Santa & Toys For Tots 2018

Over 800 children are helped yearly - thanks to YOU!

Sanpete County Humanitarian Council volunteers have operated the Sanpete Sub 4 Santa and Toys for Tots programs for many years but our sponsors and donors really make it all happen. Thank you!

2018 information

  • Families with children that live in Sanpete County may apply to participate
  • The application and pickup is all done on ONE pick up day - there is no longer a pre-application process
  • The location for 2018 is the Expo building at the Manti Fairgrounds
  • The date and time is December 8th, 2018 between 9am and 5pm
  • A parent OR guardian should go in person on that day to fill out the application
  • Lines are VERY long at 9am so please try to arrive AFTER 1pm for faster assistance
  • Toys of all values will be RE-STOCKED periodically throughout the day this year so there is no benefit to arriving early in the day
IMPORTANT
  • Please bring current proof of Sanpete County residency with you (power bill, etc.)
  • Please bring proof that the child or children you are selecting gifts for are yours or legally in your care. One proof for each child (birth certificate, note from a doctor, principal, referring agency etc.)

We wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and thank you all for your support and understanding. We strive each year to do the best we can for many children in need with the limited resources available.

Sanpete Sub-for-Santa and Toys-for-Tots 2014 is underway!!

Every year Sanpete Sub for Santa and Sanpete Toys for Tots helps nearly 1000 Sanpete kids! The need is always great and local businesses, groups and individuals have been very generous to help fulfill the needs of Sanpete's underprivileged children and youth.

Sub-for-Santa is getting an earlier start this year. Applications are already out in area banks, stores and even a few restaurants!  (APPLICATIONS FOR ASSISTANCE MUST BE TURNED IN BY DECEMBER 1st, 2014.)   You will also find donation boxes in many area locations.

Requests will be fulfilled by December 13th and applicants will have TWO pick up times from which to choose -

Saturday, December 13th from 10-4 and
Thursday, December 18th 2-8pm

PICK UP LOCATION - Snow College West Campus - former auto body shop located at 300 W. 100N.

Exciting news, for the second year the Marine Corps Toys-for-Tots program has qualified and invited the Sanpete County Humanitarian Council (SCHC) to be a partner in this wonderful Nationwide program. All toys donated here will stay in Sanpete and will be distributed through our local Toys-for-Tots program, administered by the SCHC. The result is much the same (Sanpete kids in need get the toys you donate) PLUS, Toys-for-Tots sends hundreds of donated toys to our distribution center and provides an improved distribution, accounting and reporting system for us to follow.

Because of our partnership with the Toys-for-Tots program and their guidelines, Sanpete kids will be receiving a bit more help than in the past. Those who are served through the Toys-for-Tots program will get one toy (approx $15-$25 value), a book/toy (approx. $10-$15 value) and one stocking-stuffer ($5 value). Your help is desperately needed to help each child and youth receive these gifts.

There are also many families whose greatest need - and only request - is warm winter clothing, coats, boots, underwear, etc. All of these items must come through the Sanpete Sub-for-Santa program. Toys-for-Tots generously donates about half the toys needed for our area but does not donate clothing. Cash or gift card donations would help greatly to get the clothing and sizes requested.

Sanpete Sub-for-Santa 2012 needs your help -

Christmas 2012 is fast approaching and Sub for Santa is again working hard to provide gifts for Sanpete County's children in need. Last year over 950 kids were helped by donors to this program - long trusted as Sanpete's central organization helping to connect donors with kids in need at Christmas time.

The poor economy and local conditions have not helped, with corporate donations down and the need even greater, Sub-for-Santa has been holding fundraisers and yard sales and asks everyone who can help to pitch in.  Even if it seems you can only give a little, it WILL help.

Sub for Santa partners with the local food bank and other charitable organizations, coordinating and reaching out to those in need - and to those who would like to help.

There are many ways to help -

1. Adopt one or more children by providing a toy or other needed item -

Contact Sub-for-Santa for a name or visit an official Giving Tree location to choose a child to sponsor. There is an Angel Tree at Jensen's department store in Manti and a Giving Tree at The Corner Station at 111 S. State in Fairview.

Because there are so many kids in need, the maximum expenditure per child is requested to be $30.

Most applications list one or two wants or needs for each child, the age and gender of the child.  Shop wherever you like and return the unwrapped item(s) to the giving tree location.  It's great to involve the kids in your family.

2. Make a monetary donation to the program. Donations (any amount helps) may be mailed to SUB FOR SANTA, PO BOX 302, MOUNT PLEASANT, UT, 84647 or dropped off at any of the drop off points below.  Donation cans are in place throughout the Sanpete Valley.

3. Donate a new toy, blanket or other new item to a drop off point. Popular and in-demand items are

  • cuddle blankets for kids
  • clothing for cold weather, coats, shoes, pants, etc.
  • remote control vehicles for various ages
  • toy trucks & cars
  • doll sets, princess and baby dolls
  • lego type toys
  • Littlest Pet Shop toys, La La Loopsy items
  • Barbies
  • MP3 type players or current electronics for teens
  • Art & craft itemsbooks
  • - - more ideas and specifics to come

Drop off locations are at -

Manti - Manti Market

Ephraim - WalMart, Snow College Greenwood Student Center, Jorgensen Chevrolet, American West Bank

Gunnison - Rasmussen Ace Hardware, Gunnison Market

Mount Pleasant - American West Bank, Horseshoe Mountain Hardware, Terrel's Market, The Pyramid Newspaper

Moroni - Juanita's Grocery Store

Fairview - The Corner Station, American West Bank

4. Organize a work, family, friend, Church or neighborhood group to adopt one or several children - Contact Kay Jensen at           or visit a giving tree.

5. Make blankets, scarves, doll blankets or ??? for the kids. Materials for blankets and fleece scarves are available by calling 435-427-5500.

6. VOLUNTEER to help the organizers of Sub-for-Santa.  The Sub-for-Santa center is located on Snow College West Campus.  Help is also needed seeking donations and picking up donated toys.

There is still time to sign up for assistance.  Please apply for only one Christmas giving program per year.  The deadline for turning in your application is December 5th, 2012.

Applications can be found at Kent's Marketplace, Ephraim; The Corner Station, Fairview; Rasmussen Ace Hardware, Gunnison Market, Gunnison; Head Start School, Centerfield; Manti Market, Manti; Juanita's Grocery Store, Moroni; and Terrel's Marketplace, Head Start School and Central Utah Food Sharing, Mt. Pleasant.
Thank you for any help you can give. Merry Christmas!

HARNESSING THE POTENTIAL

We know it is there.  We've all been a part of it at some time.  We know the need is great and it can seem overwhelming.  But, if we work together to make the best use of our time, talents and energies we CAN make a significant difference in the lives of Sanpete's distressed and discouraged.

Just one step at a time and each person doing what they are best at doing or most capable of doing.  Many hands making light work - teamwork.

The Sanpete Humanitarian Council's work is to help coordinate available resources to help fulfill needs in our valley that are not being met.  Sub-4-Santa, a clothing bank for those in need are ongoing.  Tomorrow, hopefully, a Community Garden or Share the Harvest program.  There is a need for a Women's Shelter in North Sanpete.  You can help us determine other priorities and needs too.  There are enough of us who CAN help.  We CAN do it.

Please contact us to tell us what your interests might be.  We'll soon have a list of volunteer opportunities on the volunteer page and a "wish list" for donations :)

Thanks for your interest!
